In the world of skincare and beauty, we’re still seeing mountains of plastic packaging and lists as long as our arms that contain often harsh and unsustainable ingredients. Despite this, there are a number of brands out there that are taking the environment into consideration in their operation.
Balmista is a waterless, small-batch, and sustainable skincare brand that was launched during the peak of the pandemic. The founder, Ajna, wanted to create something meaningful and environmentally-friendly.
Coming from a family that was always conscious of good skincare, with an esthetician as a mother, it seemed only natural to Ajna to follow in her mother’s footsteps. Balmista was born from passion.
Balmista has a three-step ritual; an oil-to-milk cleanser, a concentrated face cream, and nourishing face oil. This minimalist skincare regime reduces the need for excessive skincare, and the waterless formulas come in glass and minimal plastic, reducing plastic pollution.
You can purchase all three in a bundle for around $86USD here.
Balmista plants five trees with every order through Ecologi, and they use recyclable cardboard for all of their shipping materials.
They are currently running a competition with Neem, a men’s lifestyle brand. Enter it here.
