HempWood®

🇺🇸 Kentucky, USA

If you’re looking to build or renovate your home or business, you may be looking into the various flooring types available on the market. You may be aware of the potential health hazards that can come with using certain types of flooring. And you may also know of the strain the timber industry puts on the environment, from clearing forests to the pollution that goes with it.

If these are all things you’re concerned about, then you’re likely on the hunt for better solutions.

Greg Wilson is an expert in bamboo, with 14 years of experience in the industry. After seeing how there are other materials more superior and sustainable to conventional timbers, Greg decided to launch a new product called HempWood®.

HempWood® is exactly what it sounds like; hemp made into wood. The process is sustainable, as the hemp is sourced within 100 miles from the factory, and manufactured on site.

The hemp is fused together using a plant-based adhesive and then compressed and baked into blocks of wood. These blocks are then veneered into flooring.

The flooring is made relatively quickly, within 150 days, with low VOCs.
